During a quiet afternoon, near the end of the difficult summer of 1995, I stood in this location (close to our family's farm) and finally accepted the reality that my mom was going to lose her battle with cancer. Within a few weeks...she was gone.
During this past summer, I felt compelled to make the 2 hour drive to this location to photograph the night sky. Weather conditions weren't exactly crystal clear, but it gave me a chance to capture a few long exposures, gaze up at the sky, and think about the biggest star of my life that burned out too long ago.
