Adventurer. Explorer. Creative Artist. Storyteller. These are the words I use to describe myself.
Some people know me as a adventure photographer who travels the world to photograph abandoned places and the night sky. My photography has been featured by ABC News, MSN, The Weather Channel, Buzzfeed, TotallyCoolPix and many more.
I've explored and photographed every Canadian province and almost every American state. I've covertly explored the publicly inaccessible sections of Japan's abandoned Hashima Island (as seen in the James Bond movie Skyfall) and have explored the area around Fukushima twice (near the nuclear plant disaster). Those are just some of the highlights of my crazy adventures!
Other people know me as an advocate of open source software, specifically with the Drupal content management system. My work with Drupal and the Drupal community extends back to early 2008. I'm very active in the Toronto Drupal community, helping to promote Drupal as one of the directors of the non-profit Toronto Drupal User Group. We organize bi-weekly Drupal meetups, DrupalCamp Toronto and other events throughout the year for the Toronto Drupal community.
I've spoken about Drupal at major events in Toronto and Japan. Lately, my presentations have focused on the upcoming release of Drupal 8. If you would like me to speak about Drupal at an event, please let me know via the website's contact form.
I firmly believe in the principles of the Mozilla Manifesto. I also believe the non-profit Mozilla Foundation (makers of the Mozilla Firefox browser and Firefox OS) is the only organization of it's kind that we can truly trust with our data.
I have a well known obsession with guitars.
I was incredibly fortunate to be adopted by amazing parents and raised in the country near Stratford, Ontario, Canada.
If that isn't enough, I've been studying Japanese for more than two years. はじめまして。よろしくお願いします。
